Not Another F(ood) Blog

When asked what I would do if I won  lottery tomorrow my answer is always “I would cook”. I don’t mean it in a professional chef sense but more as a pure pleasure of handling the food and getting creative with it. Imagine how extravagant your dishes could be if you had limitless ingredients…

My love affair with all things edible started when I was still a toddler. While most babies were content with their milk bottle, I was pointing at the fridge where I knew that tasty, salty, pinkish looking thing came from. By that I mean prosciutto, which I would suck on until it dissolved in my toothless baby mouth.

Since then I have grown to like many disparate foods. So here I am now endeavouring to bare my tastes to the world. My posts are about experiencing food from my perspective, whether I cook it, eat it or throw it away.

To give you more insight into who I am and why I am started this blog, I’ve decided to list some personal traits you
might identify with.

1. My favourite pastime involves food. Always. It varies from cooking for one and throwing degustation parties
for friends to discovering new taste sensations in the most unlikely places.

2. I read the cuisine section of the weekend newspaper with my morning coffee. I often get inspired by an article or an image and spend the rest of the morning brewing up recipe ideas in my head.

3. My friends keep buying me cookbooks. I have many. I like browsing through the pages and examining photographs of beautifully assembled dishes. What my friends might not know is that I hardly ever cook from recipes.

4. I shudder to think of the money I spend on food and wine but feel it’s rather justified. After all, the best way to
entertain and be entertained is with food, drinks and good company.

5. I think the best part of traveling is getting to try the local cuisine. You stumble upon the most outrageous and simplest foods on the road but you learn soon enough that balance rules universally.

6. Like everybody else I like eating out but some of the best things I try are found out of restaurants.

7. I get excited about recommendations that are a little out of the ordinary. In return I pass on my own encounters and assessments when it comes to food and drink. Different opinions inspire me and I am not shy about expressing mine.

8. And here is the latest, my friends tell me I should be on Masterchef

So there you are, my inner foodie in a nutshell. Good enough reasons to start yet another food blog.
