Good Food & Wine Show is on this weekend!

Not to be confused with Sydney’s Good Food and Wine month taking place in October, this show is a weekend delight for all the foodies out there. The event promises to enthuse you with the latest culinary trends, tease your taste buds, and inspire the chef inside you to come out and play.

What I remember the most from my visit to the show a year or two ago is how much fun we ended up having for $20, the cost of the entry ticket. For hours we were walking through a maze of boutique beer and wine drinkers, cheese tasters, oil dippers, chocolate breakers, herb growers, spice makers, candy rollers, popcorn poppers, syrup pourers, organic devotees, meat lovers, vegan hippies, farmers, cooks, chefs, authors, baristas, sommeliers. I think I got too drunk by that stage to remember the rest.

Usually you start by getting some free stuff into your system but after a glass or two you suddenly get the temptation to upgrade your pantry and the spice rack. Belly up and happy, and my lips stained with red wine I walked out with
hands full of sugary goodies, oils, vinegars, cheese, funky red colander,
signed cookbooks, wine orders and my ever- so-precious new chef’s knife
that I got for an excellent price.

The whole experience may seem like a visit to a massive warehouse sale but the show is very worth visiting if you: A. love food, wine and cooking B. want to eat and drink lots and pay very little C. wish to run into angry Gordon Ramsay throwing knifes at his TV crew or D. have nothing else to do this weekend! I think I can circle all four.
