Schoc chocolaterie & espresso bar

On my first visit to Wellington in New Zealand I got taken to a boutique shop famous for making some of the finest chocolate in the country. I am lucky that cocoa is not one of my addictions, otherwise I would be paying a huge excess luggage fee on the way back.

Schoc is a very cosy café with a back room full of chocolates in glass cabinet displays, which feels more like a soul chemist. The staff are super serious about the whole chocolate business and will kindly take you through the savouring process.

I decided to try a selection of treats with my coffee. Rather intriguing Tequila, Lime & Salt chocolate hearts and Ginger & Wasabi truffles turned out to be heart-warming flavour combinations, the truffles velvety soft in texture. Pomegranate and Raspberry truffles were bittersweet with a minor berry zing oozing from the soft centre. If you feel like something a little stronger try a little Pinot Noir truffle or the Kiwifruit Vodka hand-painted chocolate moulds with soft cream inside. Ok, my mouth is watering just thinking about them.

On the way out I got a personally assembled gift box full of chocolates. They made it all the way to Australia. I am a good friend.
